Hello all!
Here is your weekly dose of books that changed my life.
1. Personal finance
The Millionaire Fastlane: Crack the Code to Wealth and Live Rich for a Lifetime
Summary
While this book has something for everyone, it may not be for everyone. If you believe in the model…graduate from college, get a good job, save 10% of your paycheck, buy a used car, cancel the movie channels, quit drinking expensive Starbucks mocha lattes, save and penny-pinch your life away, trust your life-savings to Wall Street, and one day, when you are, say, 65 years old, you can retire rich..then skip this one because it is the complete opposite. The above describes the slow lane, this book is all about the fast lane. If your interest is piqued, this is a great book to dive into.
Principle: If you want to keep getting what you're getting, keep doing what you are doing.
Insight: Most of my income was attached to my Website designs and not my Website advertising business. My income was tied to my time, the construction of Web sites. More Web sites jobs meant more time spent, and if I didn't work, my income would stop. My time was being sold off for money.
Behavior: Wealth eludes most people because they are preoccupied with events while disregarding process. Without process, there is no event. For our chef, the cooking is the process, while the meal is the event.
Author: MJ DeMarco
Themes: Personal finance, Personal growth, Starting a business, Entrepreneurship, Wealth creation
My personal notes from the book

How Will You Measure Your Life?
Summary
This is book is filled with incredibly useful thought-provoking ideas. It combines strategies and tactics for growing a business with principles on living a full life. It is packed with great advice and you are sure to find something useful from it.
Principle: Decide what you stand for and then stand for it all of the time.
Insight: Too many of us who start down the path of compromise will never make it back.
Quote: The only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. -Steve Jobs
Author: Clayton Christensen
Themes: Personal development, Living a full life, Running a business, Work hygiene, Productivity
My personal notes from the book
3. Entrepreneurship
The Go-Giver: A Little Story About a Powerful Business Idea
Summary
"Most people just laugh when they hear that the secret to success is giving....Then again, most people are nowhere near as successful as they wish they were."
One of my all-time favorites. This book is imparted with wit and grace. It changed the way I ran my business and was a book that all new employees were asked to read.
Principle: Your true worth is determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment.
Insight: Go looking for the best in people, and you’ll be amazed at how much talent, ingenuity, empathy and goodwill you’ll find.
Behavior: As long as you’re trying to be someone else, or putting on some act or behavior someone else taught you, you have no possibility of truly reaching people. The most valuable thing you have to give people is yourself. No matter what you think you’re selling, what you’re really offering is you.
Author: Bob Burg and John David Mann
Themes: Entrepreneurship, Personal development, Growing a business, Culture, Leadership
